On your birthday--so many "loved the pilgrim soul in you...."

My sweet George,
You will always be in my heart
With eternal Love and Gratitude
For your Inspiration,
Quiet strength,
Kindness,
And Dignity...
Fly high, my love,
Fly high-
Donna

Quand le pire se passe

On n’est ni ici ou ni là-bas
On n’est nulle part.
Dans un vide incompréhensible--
Tandis que le monde joue,
Le temps s’arrête:
La vie n'est plus.

On pense aux moments avant
Quand les choses sont plus claires
On pense que tout ira bien.
Il faut espérer et prier que
« Le Seigneur s'occupe
   Des enfants et
   Des imbéciles. »

Puis existentiellement--
Seule et en silence
On est transporté de
Ce moment éphémère
Pour l’éternité

Quand le pire s’est passé.

« C’est reposant la tragédie, parce qu’on sait
    qu’il n’y a plus d’espoir, le sale espoir…, »
Jean Anouilh

"I'm Nobody, " Emily Dickinson

"Despite earning millions during his lifetime, Robinson died poor in 1949, at the age of 71. Much of his wealth went to charities in Harlem and beyond before his death. Robinson's funeral, arranged by longtime friend and television host Ed Sullivan, was held at the 369th Infantry Regiment Armory and attended by thousands, including many stars from the entertainment industry. A eulogy by Adam Clayton Powell Sr. (father of Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr.) was broadcast over the radio. Robinson was buried in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Brooklyn, New York.
Robinson remained a well-known figure after his death, particularly in dance circles. In 1989, a joint congressional resolution established National Tap Dance Day on May 25, Robinson's birthday. Additionally, a public park in Harlem bears Robinson's name—a way of honoring his charity contributions and participation in the neighborhood's civic life, Death and Legacy of Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson."

"Barracuda"

That’s what we called her

Her favorite song-
Joni Mitchell’s  “River,”
Among many other acoustic
Melodies fit for a
Gentle soul and
Wayward spirit.

A proud Latina--
Beautiful with
Flowing black hair,
Glowing brown eyes,
An exotic  face of
Olive and  Ivory.
She was warm, generous, and kind.
A hearty laugh gave way
To grand adventures of
Crazy-ass fun
Never a dull moment
Life was good
Until it wasn’t.

We heard the news weeks later
After she went missing
Her body—once strong and agile
Finally found
In a gruesome state,
Common to all murders.
First there was disbelief,
A reporter's account would tell
Of a horrific ending
To this powerful force of nature
Extinguished in her prime—
A vessel now empty and
Decomposing.

Then we waited.
We’re still waiting decades later--
Questions still unanswered;
An assailant never found;
Justice never served.

“Oh, I wish I had a River.. I could skate away on…”

   "River,"
Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock
