By Justine Triet, 2016, France – 97 min – Comedy Drama
With Virginie Efira, Vincent Lacoste, Melvil Poupaud
Part of the AFS New French Cinema Week with Director of Photography Simon Beaufils in attendance.
In this deliciously entertaining comedy, a 30-something lawyer, recently divorced and acting as a single mother to two young daughters, finds herself at the center of multiple personal and professional crises that threaten to bring on a nervous breakdown. Director Justine Triet (Age of Panic) brilliantly navigates her main character’s thinly veiled neuroses, awkward sex life and relationship fiascos with humor and a delicate touch.
The screening will be accompanied by an in-person conversation with the Director of Photography, Simon Beaufils, one of the most notable contemporary French cinematographers. His other recent credits include THE UNTOUCHABLES and Jean-Luc Godard’s BRIDGES OF SARAJEVO.
In French with English subtitles.
